Prepping For Fall Fashion

I'm slowly facing the reality that we've only got a month of summer left. Don't get me wrong - fall is my very favorite, and there's lots to be excited about - but I know what comes after all of that, and it's 17,000 years of Buffalo winter. So I am by no means rushing summer along, here....but I am getting just a teeensy bit excited about fall clothes.

Maybe a little bit more than a teensy bit.

Thanks to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and Matilda Jane's new releases, I've got a pretty little stockpile that's waiting for the weather to turn. So while I remain in denial about loosing green leaves and 80 degrees, I've got a stylish silver lining ready to go. Care to see? :)

For the start of fall, I grabbed a couple of tees that will work great for layering with transition weather.

The first is a pretty shade of green that feels perfect for September, and the other is going to carry me through my yearly fall Gilmore Girls obsession. The Luke's tee runs really small and tight - I sized up twice to get the fit pictured. I was also seriously overdue for some new sneakers, so I grabbed these Nike's during the Nordstrom sale. (Size up a half size in those.)

I also grabbed a couple of neutral long-sleeved tops that I know will be favorites during the colder weather months. The striped one is from Matilda Jane's new Not-So-Basics line and I sized up once to get the looser fit. The other is the Free People henley that I got in my spring haul, but in black. I REALLY want it in khaki also - I've got my eyes peeled for a sale!

Next are the two pieces I think I'm most excited to wear this fall - they are just so cute and cozy and they both just have a certain something about them!

First is this off the shoulder sweater, and I'm OBSESSED!!! It runs really big - I'd like to get this in a second color, but I think I'd size down. I'm wearing the small here, and it's adorable oversized like this (especially because it fits a little more snug around the hips), but the XS might be more reasonable. I love that you can wear it off both shoulders or just one to change up the look a little.

My other favorite is this brown and black striped BP. top from Nordstrom. I just love this shade of brown, and I love how this top looks with black jeans! It runs a little on the small side (I kind of wish I sized up), and it's a sheer material so I'd recommend a cami under it. I think this colorway is sold out right now, but there's some other great neutrals and a pretty coral.

Next, I grabbed a new plaid shirt (fall staple, of course) and I was really drawn to this yellow one. When I chose it I had no idea that "Gen Z Yellow" was a thing, but I guess you can count this as my first official gzy wardrobe addition, haha. It's cute and a little bit roomy (I'm wearing a small), but not overly heavy. I love it!!

Fall is cardigan season, of course, and I got three awesome, cozy neutrals to round out my closet. Two of them are the same style in 2 colors, and the other I picked up during the Nordstrom sale and I love it! They're all the coziest!

First is this bp. curved cardi that I picked in oatmeal for its versatility. I really like the mustardy version, too, though! I got the small and it first perfectly.

The other two are Matilda Jane cardigans, and they are re-makes of the Come On Over Cardigan from a few seasons ago. I loved both the black and the grey versions (which don't look terribly different in the photos but they do in person). These are so cozy and stylish, I love them!! There's a lot of fabric to them, but the sleeves are a little short. The black one is a small and the grey is a medium - both fit, but the medium feels better on the arms.

I got a few tanks from MJ that I thought would be great for layering and transitioning into cooler weather. The first one has great end-of-summer colors and an outdoorsy feel, and the one the other is reversible and has the prettiest lace panel ever! It makes a great top extender, too. I'm wearing them both in smalls, but I decided to exchange the first one for a smaller size (it runs a bit big in the ribs).

These are repeats from my Jane Parade, but these are two of the tops I've ordered for myself and they're patiently waiting for cooler weather. I LOVE the baseball tee - like, love love love! It's so so cute worn a bunch of different ways, and it's SO comfortable. I adore it. It runs TTS (I'm wearing the medium in photos but got the small and it fits more accurately). The other I also ordered in a small, which is perfect for the top layer, but the extender tank beneath is really big. I'm afraid if I size down the top layer won't fit well, so I think I'm going to have the tank altered.

The last thing I have a photo of is this Matilda Jane Jumpsuit. It's the same style as the Joanna Gaines version from June, but in solid black. I played around with it a little bit and loved how it looked with the bp. shirt tied up over it.

And that's it for now!! I have my eye on a few things, and my birthday money is coming quickly so until next time ;)

What's your favorite?? What are you after this upcoming fall season?
