Morning Coffee Date: Threads everywhere!

I've been very distracted one thing or the other. I seem to pick something to concentrate on, and it occupies every spare moment (and some not so spare).

(I'm talking to you, Christian Grey!!!)

One of my distractions, I think, is worth while - but it's taking up a lot of my time and money. And I'm trying to do it right, so slow and steady is the theme of the moment.

So, what is my little secret? My dainty revelation, if you will.

I'm trying to open a little shop of my own!

And so, this is why I sit among endless threads and scraps, pins and tools, neatly folded piles of pretty fabrics, drinking up my morning cup of consciousness. I've got a handful of works in progress at various stages of completion, my sewing machine is calling my name, and my fingers are looking forward to nap time so I can make something pretty.

Though I'm doing all of this for my soon-to-be shop, can I just mention how happy sewing makes me? Super happy. And how doing so with the windows open and some dance-y summer tunes makes me even happier?

(My current song obsession - to the point where even my son says, "Mom! This is your song!" is Wild Ones. You should see my Luke get down to it. )

The problem with this particular distraction is the money it's costing me.

I nearly bankrupted myself yesterday buying the supplies for more prototypes. How can anyone resist colorful cotton?

Since these are just my prototypes, I'm not planning on selling them - they don't have labels, and they will certainly contain the mistakes of my learning process. But I guess the upside to this is - I'm gonna have a whole lot of cuteness to myself!

I can't wait to show everyone what I've had up my sleeve!

I'm linking up with Rags to Stitches for coffee this morning - join us!
