The "Get Dressed" Challenge, Week 1

Momfession: I don't get dressed everyday.

One of my favorite perks of staying home with my kids is that there is no morning rush. Well, that's almost not true anymore. Starting next week, I will have two kids in school, one of them going every day of the week, which means there is now at least a morning hussle. Without any morning urgency, I haven't needed to get dressed.

For the last almost 6 years, I've been content to live in comfy pants.

In fact, I started referring to anything that wasn't leggings or yoga pants as "hard pants". For example, Matt would ask how long it would take me to get ready to go somewhere and I'd say, "Aw man, that means I have to put hard pants on!"

Mom probs, amiright?

Clearly, life is requiring a change. For the past two years, I had 2-3 days a week that I could ignore most of the clothes in my closet and live in soft pants. On preschool drop off days, I'd default to jeans and a hoodie or thicker yoga pants that were acceptable to be seen in, and that was the extent of my efforts. Grocery shopping day got a little more attention because of increased exposure time.

Daaaang am I sounding glamorous or WHAT?

I now have to look at least halfway acceptable on a daily basis, and I want to make the most of it. I don't have the time, money, or fashion sense to put a well-thought out outfit together every single day, so I'll be honest, here - I'm operating on Mom fashion. But the fact remains - I need to set a habit to get dressed every single day - even if I am donning soft pants and not leaving the house by some miracle. And truthfully, spending 5 minutes on my outfit in the morning (showered or not) makes me feel more productive for the rest of the day.

SO. I am challenging myself, for the rest of 2014 (yep, the whole thing), to get dressed every single day. I started this challenge on 8/19, so that's 135 outfits, friends. Yikes!

These are the guidelines I've set for myself:
-Get dressed every single day, even if it just involves changing a single item of clothing in the morning
-Never pair the same two items together twice in the same week
-Wear a skirt or dress at least once a week
-Accessorize in some way every day
-Take a picture of my outfit every day

That's it, yo. I might decide to throw a theme at myself every week, but for now, I'm not going to complicate things too much while I'm just getting started. Gotta set the habit first, ya know.

SO, every Thursday, I'm going to share the previous week's outfits with you (Tues - Wed). I'll also be linking up with Can't Google Everything's Fall Style Link Up starting on September 4th.

However, the photos are going to straight up stink. We only have 1 full-length mirror, and it's in my son's messy room which not only has terrible lighting to begin with, but it needs a lamp, still, since we rearranged it. And because I'm WAY too lazy to break out my big camera and upload and edit all the pictures, you get grainy iphone photos. I also hate making selfie faces, so I will likely cover up my face with my phone in most of them. ONLY THE BEST FOR YOU GUYS! ;P
