Spring is HERE!
It takes a little longer for Spring to show up around here, and when it does - ohh, is it fantastic! It really is something to celebrate around here, and getting into the warmth and freshness of the season always makes me so happy! Here are some of the things that have added some extra fun to my life lately!
As you know, I'm usually an Essie girl, but I have fallen head over heals in love with Jamberry! I don't know what took me so long! My Mom fell for them before I did, and she gave me some of her samples to play with. I was hooked after the first nail. I'm used to anxiously rushing my nails dry before someone needs a diaper or something, so when I finished with my first manicure and could immediately go on with my day, it was so weird! Awesome, weird. My first manicure lasted for two weeks, and I probably could have kept it going longer but I wanted to change them out for a floraly Easter style. I am so crazy about them! I only have a few more samples left, so I'm getting anxious to stock up! I feel like I'll never be able to go back to just nail polish. I'm actually hosting a party this weekend so I can get a bunch - my wish list is forever long.
Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer
Usually, I'm not so picky about my moisturizer. I try to stay in the $5-10 range - something that has minimal bad-for-you ingredients and will make my face feel good after I wash it. I heard some good things about this particular moisturizer, and I was hesitant to pay $15+ for it, so it took me a while to finally bite the bullet. Oh my gosh - it's amazing. It's better than any other moisturizer I've ever used. I swear I can actually feel something happening when I put it on (there's a very subtle tingle), and it has made my face feel so smooth and evened out. I wouldn't normally turn to a moisturizer for that - I'd probably start at my face wash (right now I use Clean & Clear Morning Burst for the days I just need a clean face to throw some make up on, and Mary Kay Timewise during every shower - but that's only because I had some to use up! I'll find something else once it's empty, just not a Mary Kay fan.). The Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer also has SPF in it, and it makes my makeup go on more smoothly when I use it first. Love this - give it a try!
Not very springy, I know - but still a favorite right now! I haven't been into Disney music like this in a long, long time. You'd think my family would miss the Frozen boat since I've got all boys at home, but because Olaf and Sven and the pep in the music, my boys love it! We all got addicted to the music (and really - usually sing-songy movies drive me crazy, but there is something about this one!), so we downloaded the soundtrack and listen to it almost daily. Usually multi-daily. The boys know all the words, and I LOVE watching them sing and dance around to it. Before this, we were on a Bruno Mars kick - it's a bit of a change, haha! My favorites? Love Is An Open Door, Let it Go, and Fixer Upper.
Bath and Body Works 'Spring' Candle
I'm on a bit of a candle kick with them right now anyways, but lately I've been giving the Spring one quite a work out. It smells so divine when I've got the windows open and the fresh air swirls with its sweet scent. YUM! It's described as, "A delicate blend of light rain, yellow daisy, daffodil and sycamore woods that contains the freshness of the season" - it's heavenly.
Lemon Mint Leaf
Speaking of Bath & Body Works - I have a new scent! It's been a while. When I was a teenager, my scent was Sun Ripened Raspberry. Then when Cucumber Melon arrived, I had a new favorite (along with everyone else in the world!). For a little while, it was Coconut Lime Verbena, and then in the small span of time between getting married and having Luke, my scent was Enchanted Orchid. I was obsessed, I all but bathed in the body butter! And now, years later, I finally have a new scent - Lemon Mint Leaf! It is so fresh, bright and clean - I want to drink it, ah! I ordered it in a hand soap because I thought it sounded like a good clean scent, and I was so thrilled when it arrived and I had a chance to sniff it that I immediately bought it in candle form. It's delish. If you like really clean scents, give this one a shot - you won't regret it!
Here's the thing. I can't yet decide if I love them or if I'm scared of them! I envy some things about them, and also think they are crazy. And what you obviously don't see on TV or their own books is the potential for the restrictive parts of their religious beliefs. I've heard rumblings about shipping kids that show signs of rebellion off to spiritual book camp, the girls being discouraged from college (without actually saying so, done sort of manipulatively), and a really strange relationship between their father and the girls' boyfriends. Not that there's been any of that documented specifically, just that their whole method of "courtship" is really very odd and borderline unhealthy, and that other families with the same beliefs have gone a little whacko with it. But despite these questions, I really love watching how they function. I've been keeping up with their show and reading their books, and I'm just so fascinated. And no, I have no interest (NONE) in having 19 kids, thankyou.
