Dear Luke (19 Months)

Dear Lukey,
August 30, 2010

I really debated switching your letters to every 6 months...now that you’re such a big boy (sniff sniff)...and as you can see, I wasted most of this month trying to make that decision. You learn too much and grow too much from month to month for me to NOT write to you monthly. Because of my procrastination, though...this month’s letter will be short. Most of your new skills belong in your next month’s letter.

I consider this as the month you started using sentences. Not perfectly, of course - but you use them so often! It’s such a gift to have a little window to your mind these days!

Let's see...your new love this month is slides. You LOVE going down slides! You can run us around a park like a little tornado. It doesn’t matter if it’s 90 degrees and humid outside...you’ve still got fuel!

Your biggest accomplishment this month was acting as Ring Bearer for Aunt Mallory & Uncle Tom’s wedding! You were SO CUTE in your little tux - everyone talked about how adorable you looked!! Considering you got to follow Mommy down the isle and chew on the ring pillow for comfort (haha), you made it down the isle! It was an accomplishment I wasn’t sure you’d make - I’d prepared your Aunt for the worst - thinking you may stand there and cry or throw a fit, and you surprised us all by being a little professional! You had a really really long day with only one nap, and you were a champ through the whole thing. I can’t wait to see the professional pictures!!

You obviously hit some sort of developmental milestone after you made it 18 months, because your speech and comprehension are exploding every day. I can’t wait to see what you’re like when you hit 2.....though I’m in NO rush for you to get there! :)

I love you very very much, bubs
Mommy
