Carving Pumpkins

Because of the move, we were pretty behind on our Halloween celebrations. My mom had a pumpkin, but it was already starting to go bad, and I kind of wanted the experience of going to get a pumpkin with Luke. Of course, it was so late in the season so I was pretty much planning on going to Tops or something, but it seemed like every single grocery store was already out.

The evening before Halloween, I asked Mal to take a trip with me & Luke for one last attempt at finding a pumpkin. There's a pumpkin patch down the road (that's located on a farm, so they also have all their animals out to pet), and I figured this was probably our best chance. They had so few pumpkins left that there wasn't much of a decision to make, but we DID find one! We visited with the animals for a bit (Luke wasn't sure WHAT to make of them...they had bunnies, chickens, goats, a cow, a pig, a turkey...he just sort of stared!), and then went home to carve our pumpkins.

I had Luke sit with me while I de-gooped and he was kind of confused by what it was!

The finished products!

The top one I used a template from a kit, and the bottom one I just did free-hand...I wanted an L for the nose & two teeth (like Luke) for his pumpkin. I should have put them on the bottom, oh well :)
